The Edmonton Clansmen Rugby Academy

The focus of the Clansmen Academy is to be the foundation of the Clansmen Rugby Club's men's and women's programs, working to facilitate the Club's values: teamwork, respect, enjoyment, discipline, community and accountability. We are developing a supportive and challenging environment through innovative delivery of skill acquisition, which allows the player to achieve their potential. We are working to create well-rounded individuals based on hard work, talent and humility

Our player’s work in one session per week from November to April, focusing on individual skill acquisition and development.

Our skills sessions take place at the indoor turf at the Commonwealth Recreation Centre. You will not find a better facility in the city to train for rugby in the winter.

Our Academy is open to both male and female athletes ages 15-21. The Academy will run every Wednesday night from November until the end of March at 8 PM at the Commonwealth Recreation Centre.

Academy Coaches 2017:

Andy Stead - Andy is the current senior men's player coach for the Clan. He joins the Clan with an impressive CV, including playing professionally overseas. He is originally from New Zealand and brings with him their unique style of a wide game instilled with toughness. Andy will be leading our athletes through skill development towards mastery.

Helen Wright - Helen is a former national women's player and coach for Canada as well as a former coach of the University of Alberta Panda's Varsity Rugby Team. She joins the Clan with the goal of player and coach development at all levels.

April Prescott - April is a long-time Clan member, both as a player and a member of the Executive. She returns to the Academy team with the role of functional movement specialist and mindfulness coach. April is a certified Yoga instructor and mindfulness educator. Her style of coaching will have your body and mind ready for the pitch.
